My new project for this month is to attempt making one of my own cloth diapers. I have made easy fleece covers before, but hopefully by the end of February I will have learned to make a real-deal AI2 pocket diaper!
I’m using the products made by Babyville Boutique for this first attempt. They make and sell PUL fabric, diaper snaps, velcro, and fold over elastic, snap tools, and all sorts of coordinating decorative touches for your diapers. (They also sell all sorts of patterns and goodies for baby accessories, too.) Yes, it’s definitely a marketing tool to sell everything so that it coordinates- that way customers develop brand loyalty unwittingly- but hey, it’s cute! Plus, I got my supplies at Joann Fabrics on sale for almost 50% off.
I’m quite certain that you could purchase diaper making supplies for a less expensive price in bulk. However, Babyville Boutique makes it a little easier on beginners like me because their instructions and products are designed to work together to walk you through the diaper making process easily and step by step. Hopefully it will help a beginning sewer like me to accomplish my first real diaper project.
I’ll keep you posted on how I do. Have any of you made your own diapers? Where do you get your supplies? I appreciate your input!
