Make Your Own Cloth Diapers

My new project for this month is to attempt making one of my own cloth diapers. I have made easy fleece covers before, but hopefully by the end of February I will have learned to make a real-deal AI2 pocket diaper!

I’m using the products made by Babyville Boutique for this first attempt. They make and sell PUL fabric, diaper snaps, velcro, and fold over elastic, snap tools, and all sorts of coordinating decorative touches for your diapers. (They also sell all sorts of patterns and goodies for baby accessories, too.) Yes, it’s definitely a marketing tool to sell everything so that it coordinates- that way customers develop brand loyalty unwittingly- but hey, it’s cute! Plus, I got my supplies at Joann Fabrics on sale for almost 50% off.

I’m quite certain that you could purchase diaper making supplies for a less expensive price in bulk. However, Babyville Boutique makes it a little easier on beginners like me because their instructions and products are designed to work together to walk you through the diaper making process easily and step by step. Hopefully it will help a beginning sewer like me to accomplish my first real diaper project.

I’ll keep you posted on how I do. Have any of you made your own diapers? Where do you get your supplies? I appreciate your input!

Fluff Friday Giveaway

Free fluff?!? Who wouldn’t want some free fluffy stuff? No, I am not giving away any diapers myself. I only have just enough for my boy right now. However, I wanted to write an extremely short post to notify you of a Swaddlebees Simplex AIO cloth diaper giveaway: Head on over to this week’s giveaway at The Cloth Diaper Whisperer Blog to enter to win some fluffy goodies every Friday! You have to enter sometime during the week before Thursday, then check back on the following Friday to see if you won. If you miss it, you miss it and it’s given away to someone else! Enjoy, and I hope this gets someone some free fluff!

Cloth Diaper Co-op!

Here’s a quick link to a great co-op for kids products, particularly cloth diapers:

Coop by Nichole

You can purchase these super cute diapers for the amazing price of $3.50 for solids and $4.00 for prints (there are a lot more patterns than shown here). These particular ones are pocket diapers, and they come with one insert. I have not personally tried these diapers, nor have I ordered from this co-op before, but for the price, what could it hurt?

This might be a great way to get into cloth diapering if the immediate investment seems cost-prohibitive to you. Hope this is helpful!
